designer Dingyun Jang and fashion house Moncler team up Underwater Futurism A collection that fuses Zhang’s forward-looking aesthetics with the brand’s unique craftsmanship. Chinese designers and brands share an interest in function, padding and volume. For the Outwear collection, Zhang brings large volumes of sculpting bodies into new shapes, inspired by aquatic life, and explores color palettes resembling corals and fungi growing on submerged sculptures.
“The thought process behind the collection is rich and layered, and the results are immediate and eye-catching. There are details like adjustable Chinese knot buttons, hidden zippers and thumb-hole ribbed cuffs that add functionality. You can get a huge amount through very light fabrics. This lineup includes coats with and without a hood, padded vests, cropped blousons, shimmering ultralight crinkled nylon, exaggerated padded facemasks, cycling shorts and leggings.” – at Moncler
